Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television anchor for a journalist as well as a commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. As a child living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). She then became a Washington general correspondent of NBC News two years later. The first time she covered the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent within the year 1988. When she joined NBC News in 1992, Mitchell was appointed chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was on the panel of the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the show. Mitchell was on the panel at the 1988 debate in the 1988 debate between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell worked in news from the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during the time of Ronald Reagan's two term as president. Mitchell reported on a wide range of noteworthy stories including arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. She also visited extensively together with the president Reagan to summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
